An experienced developer for your agency’s client projects

For projects in WordPress, Laravel or a combination of the two. I develop alongside your team or take on the technical side, on behalf of your agency.

What I bring

Expertise that complements your team

I have worked with WordPress since 2011, and I also develop applications in Laravel. Bespoke themes in the block editor, WooCommerce, plugins, integrations with other systems and multilingual sites: that is what you can bring me in for.

That includes projects that need more than WordPress alone. I develop a Laravel application, or a combination of the two, so that your own team can take it forward later.

Capacity when you need it

A project comes in while your team is already fully booked, or the deadline moves forward. Then I step in, for a single part or for the entire technical side.

That way you don’t have to hire anyone for a peak, or for expertise you only need now and then.

When to bring me in

For a new project, for a second look, and for what is already running.

Development

A client project that needs more than your team can offer: an integration, an application or a complex webshop. I develop it within your schedule.

Tell me about the project

Second opinion

You want a quote, a technical plan or code checked before it goes to your client. You get in writing what is right, what is missing and what I would do differently.

Send me the plan or the code

Maintenance

A client site you would rather not maintain yourself, even if someone else built it. I first look at what is there, then take care of updates and ongoing development.

Tell me which site it is

WordPress, Laravel and the Roots stack

Do you work with Bedrock and Sage from Roots? That is where I am at home. If a client site has a custom theme that is set up differently, I can take that forward just as well.

When a site has to do more than show pages, Laravel can run inside WordPress through Acorn. A portal, a calculator or an ordering system then runs in Laravel, while editors simply keep working in WordPress.

An agency with its client and a developer: the agency stays in charge, the developer joins in where that helps

Working with you and your client

I work on behalf of your agency, for your client. You stay in charge and keep the contact, and I join in where that helps: in a meeting, with a technical question or at handover.

What you get

What comes with every collaboration.

  • Expertise in WordPress and Laravel
Since 2011, including WooCommerce, integrations and multilingual sites.
  • Code that follows the standards
Written to the WordPress Coding Standards and checked automatically. On larger projects, automated tests run with every change.
  • Working in your process
In your repository, ticketing system and schedule, with reviews done your way.
  • Direct contact
You talk to me in person, and I am easy to reach by email and phone.
  • Easy to hand over
Code in Git, documented. Your team or a fellow freelancer can pick it up straight away.
  • Honest advice
I think along with you and say so when something can be simpler, better or cheaper.

What it costs

I work by the hour or for a fixed price per project, depending on what needs doing. You get an estimate up front, so you can include it in your own quote.

Invoicing

Through your agency or directly to your client, whichever works best for the project. If you invoice the client yourself, you also decide what to charge them.

Frequently asked questions

How do we set up the collaboration?

We agree on that per project: how I fit in with your team, who handles contact with your client and who does the invoicing. You stay in charge, and I join you at meetings with your client when that helps.

How soon can you start?

That depends on my schedule at the time. Send me a message saying when the project starts and how much work it is, and I will tell you honestly whether it fits.

Do you work in our tools and repositories?

Yes. I work in your Git repository, ticketing system and communication channels, and fit in with the way you work.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

No. A one-off project is fine, and so are fixed hours per week or per month for agencies with regular work.

Can you take over a site someone else built?

Yes, once I have been able to look at what is there. After that you know what it takes to move forward, or whether starting over is wiser.

What happens if you are ill or on holiday?

Then a fellow freelancer steps in. The code is in Git and documented, so someone else can pick it up straight away.
